Girls Volleyball:
Erin Horn has been the Cretin-Derham Hall volleyball coach for the past 4 years. She has been pushing the CDH motto, “culture creates champions” since day one and you see it on the court when they play. At the end of the season, volleyball had a record of 23-6, compared to the 2024 season which was 19-14. Girls volleyball has been steadily improving each year since Coach Horn began.
Senior Captain Megan Buri said, “We knew at the beginning of the season that going to state was a very high possibility. Every day at practice, we challenged each other in order to accomplish this goal. We also knew that we wanted to do more than just get to state this year, and that we wanted to place as well. I am so grateful to have been a part of this team, and all of the amazing things that we have accomplished together.” Megan Buri reached 1,000 assists in her high school career this year and last season led the state with the highest amount of assists. While the girls fell to Marshall in the State Semi-Finals, the team still placed 4th in Class AAA. The Semi-Finals game provided CDH students the day off of school, and the student section was filled with people to cheer on the volleyball team. The team spirit filled the entire Grand Casino arena.
Girls Tennis:
Tennis wrapped up their amazing season, unfortunately losing in section semifinals to Holy Angels in October. Even without getting into the state tournament, head girls tennis coach Tim Spika was named 2025 section 3AA coach of the year. Senior Alexa Wahlberg played on the varsity team and says that “This season was so much fun! We had a big team, but I feel like we all came together in a special way. From cheering each other on, to inside jokes, to our team dinners, it was a really special season and I’m going to miss this group.” Even when game day matches can take hours on end, the team pushed through and became #3 in section play. So proud of our tennis girls!
