In the midst of a busy spring the CDH performing arts students and teachers had the opportunity to take a school trip to any students dream destination, New York City. The CDH performing arts students were in NYC for a jam packed four days to explore. With activities such as Broadway shows, Radio City Hall’s backstage tour, the Statue of Liberty, the Top of The Rock, and Times Square there was never a dull moment.
Junior Ryan O’Connell ‘27 shared his trip highlight, “My highlight of the trip was Hadestown. There was something so special about seeing a Broadway show on Broadway, not to mention the show itself was phenomenal!”

The CDH performing arts group certainly left New York with a new appreciation for professional theater after seeing Hadestown as it was the most talked about highlight of the trip! Even in New York the CDH students were still eager to learn! Each performing arts department split up into specialized workshops for musicians, signers, and actors. When reflecting on what he learned in the band workshop Joseph Bartels ‘27 shared, “I learned how to work with singers
while playing. Playing with singers is so much different than playing with a band, so it was a great experience to have.” The theater and choir joint workshop was also a massive hit.
Josie Dahlheimer ‘27 ,who normally works behind the scenes in theater, reflects “I was able to try something new with singing and dancing and learning from a professional was amazing!”
A school trip to New York City would not be complete without sightseeing. In their time in the city the CDH students got to visit the most iconic NYC landmarks, museums, buildings, and parks.
Josie Dahlheimer’s favorite landmark was the Statue of Liberty, she shared“ I loved seeing the Statue of Liberty and taking the boat ride out there.”
Ryan O’Connells favorite sight in NYC was the Top of The Rock he exclaimed “The best sight by far was from the top of the rock. It was awe inspiring to see the entirety of the busy city fro

m so high up, and you can really see from upthere just how busy the city is!”
Many students remarked the true magic of this trip was getting to experience everything with their friends. Fiona Smith ‘28 remarks “ I am sure a lot of people can say they went to New York City, but a select few can say they went with their best friends.”
